Grenache Blanc

Pronunciation: Gruh-naash blahnk

Garnacha is an old variety that has undergone several mutations affecting berry color (ie Garnacha Blanca, Garnacha Roja) and the downiness of the underside of the leaves (ie Garnacha Peluda). These all show the same DNA profile.

Lovicu concluded that the name Garnacha derives from the name of white grape (Vernaccia) and that is designated a white-berried variety until the nineteenth century.
