Syrah

Pronunciation: Sih-rah

Syrah or Shiraz is a dark-skinned grape varietal known to produce mouth-drying tannic wines particularly in Rhone Valley and Australia. This grape has a short ripening period between veraison and harvest and unsuited to soils with high active lime content.

Though it sometimes uses to blend with other French varieties such as Grenache or Mourvedre, Rhone set upon producing a red wine solely from Syrah.  It's main palate features are leather, liquorice, tar with some notes of black pepper and dark fruits.
