Introducing Roberto Voerzio, Wine Clique’s newest agency

Introducing Roberto Voerzio, Wine Clique’s newest agency

Italy's Roberto Voerzio is a living legend in the winemaking world. Known for his uncompromising philosophy, he creates the purest Barolo wines that last a lifetime

The Voerizo team is steadfast in its belief that low yields and high quality are always linear. From discarding wine deemed unworthy to having a strict green harvesting method that produces less than a bottle of wine per vine, this belief redefines what world class Barolo is.

At age 8, Roberto tasted grapes in his grandfather's vineyard that he'll never forget. Naming them “sugar grapes”, they are made by reducing 50 bunches per vine to just five bunches, intensifying the flavours and making the grapes taste sweet. Since then, Roberto has experimented with the family vineyard, continuing the legacy.

The location of his Piedmont vineyard, where the grapes can grow in perfect conditions, has always been Roberto's luck. His grandfather taught him the importance of organic fertilisers, which Roberto still uses and is proud to plant 2.5 times more vines per acre than his rivals. Roberto's labor-intensive process of maintaining and harvesting grapes by hand allows him to harvest 1.5kg grapes per vine, at the peak of their ripeness.  “Taking care of the vines is like taking care of your girlfriend. Some days we fight but most days I’m lucky.” - Roberto.

He has been praised for producing wines that are deeply textured, incredibly ripe and delicious. Black fruit flavours prevail, characterized by finesse and elegance without excessive intensity. A Roberto wine must be aged for at least five years before revealing its true nature, making them last almost a lifetime. With its suave and concentrated style, Roberto stands out as one of Italy's finest wines.

We are pleased to announce the addition of Roberto Voerzio wines to our wine list, available for delivery now. Place your orders today by dropping us an email at customerservice@wine-clique.com.
