Offer: Château Palmer

Château Palmer is one of the world's most recognisable and critically acclaimed estates in Bordeaux and is well known for not only their age-worthy Grand Vin but also their stunning second wine, Alter Ego de Palmer. Their other outstanding offerings include their incredible White Bordeaux, Vin Blanc de Palmer, and their extremely rare historical Cabernet / Syrah blend Historical XIX Century Wine.

Château Palmer's vineyards date back to the mid-1700s, producing some of the region's most prestigious wines, which were enjoyed by the French aristocracy at Versailles. In modernity, Château Palmer can be traced back to their incredible 1961 release, and although officially classified as a Third Growth, the winery is now more often compared with the great First Growths of the Médoc.

In the Margaux appellation of Medoc, on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, Château Palmer reigns over 66 hectares of vines. A herd of 109 sheep grazes the grass and flowers growing amidst the vine rows from November to March, which limits the growth of the plants and replenishes the soil with nutrients.

In contrast to the Chateau Palmer Grand Vin, the estate's famous Alter Ego wine presents a more spontaneous expression of the same great terroir. Rich in fresh fruit, it is more approachable than its distinguished older brother and has a crisp intensity with silky tannins.

Vin Blanc de Palmer   2015

"The palate is bright, expressive, and subtly creamy – citrus and stone fruits, white flowers, and palpable minerality are several of the many layers in this cuvee that kept changing and improving with every sip." - Winemaker's Notes

Alter Ego de Palmer   2017

"Composed of 53% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Alter Ego de Palmer is deep garnet-purple in color and springs from the glass with vivacious black raspberries, black cherries and crushed blackcurrants notes plus hints of Sichuan pepper, menthol, pencil lead and cardamom. Medium-bodied, the palate is charged with energy, featuring expressive, bright black fruits and firm, fine-grained tannins, finishing long and lively." - The Wine Advocate, 92 points.

Château Palmer   2005

"The 2005 Château Palmer is a legend in the making. Apparently the vines received 57% less rain than average, yet the 2005 shrugs off any water deficiency and has nurtured a wondrously pixelated bouquet, whereby mineralité shines through the black cherry and blueberry fruit. Search deeper and you discover veins of graphite that impart a Pauillac-like allure. The palate is medium-bodied and intense, but it is not overwhelming, a Margaux that is galvanized with a firm backbone thereby ensuring this will age over the long term. The symmetry here is enthralling - a 2005 that is destined for greatness." - The Wine Advocate, 97 points.
