Offer: Dominio de Pingus

Peter Sisseck had already established himself as a leading Danish winemaker at Hacienda Monasterio when he started Dominio de Pingus. Naming his new label after his childhood nickname, Peter began producing his own wines, influenced by the numerous old vines scattered throughout the Ribera del Duero region.
In spite of other Spanish wines' international success, Pingus is one of the very few to have made its way into the top ten most coveted wines in the world. Unlike many contemporary wines, Pingus stands out for its unique individuality, astonishing richness and unparalleled elegance. The first vintage of Pingus is 1995 and Robert Parker graded it with an unheard of 96-100 points. Since the review, the world took notice and today Pingus is regarded with great respect wherever great wines are discussed.
Did you know?
A ship with 75 cases of the 1995 vintage on board disappeared near the Azores in November 1997, causing a market frenzy and pushing prices up nearly 150%.
Offer: Dominio de Pingus

Peter's vision with Dominio de Pingus was to push Tempranillo grapes to the absolute limit. He uses 100% Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) from ancient vines and even spent the first few years pruning the vines back to a harmonious balance. In 2001, he began using biodynamic viticulture in his vineyards to create a healthier ecosystem and lower yields for the wines to have more depth.
The complex textures that Pingus possesses have been mimicked by many wines, along with Peter's winery work. Despite this, none of these newcomers has the substance that defines Pingus, evident in the wines that feel extremely balanced, ripe and exuberant. With notes of violets, spices, and umami-like meat-broth aromas in some matured vintages, Pingus palate is always full-bodied and opulent, with sophisticated tannins.

Pingus   2012
"There are plenty of floral notes, violets, even lilies; it's extremely aromatic, subtle and precise with just some Indian spices in the background to give it an exotic character. With time in the glass, there are some earthy, mineral (even diesel-like?) aromas. It has a rare combination of power and finesse, concentrated but delicate, with buttery, ultra-refined tannins, great balance, acidity, length and a silky texture, not easy to find in Ribera del Duero. This could very well be the best Pingus ever, in the style of 1996, a year of elegance and good acidity." - The Wine Advocate, 100 points.

Pingus   2014
"The nose is quite harmonious and open, should gain precision in bottle. And it's precisely on the palate where you find that texture that is almost unique to Ribera del Duero when it's as perfect as this. It's very different from other zones, a velvety mouthfeel and a surrounding sensation of comfort, incredibly long. The tannins are ultra fine and with that subtle chalkiness of the limestone soils, which also added to the tastiness and the supple aftertaste. In short, I cannot think of a way of improving this Pingus other, than getting a magnum instead of a regular bottle!" - The Wine Advocate, 100 points.

Pingus   2015
"Inky ruby. A hugely perfumed bouquet evokes ripe black and blue fruits, potpourri, exotic spices and incense, all sharpened by a vibrant mineral topnote. Stains the palate with concentrated, sharply focused blackberry, bitter cherry, violet pastille and fruitcake flavors that deftly blend power and delicacy. Shows superb clarity and resonating florality on a strikingly long, penetrating finish framed by polished, well-knit tannin's. Drinking window: 2025 - 2038." - Vinous, 98 points.
