Offer: Mongeard-Mugneret (Available now)

MONGEARD-MUGNERET – The Mongeard family’s experience in the wine industry dates back as far as the 1600s, however it was only in the early twentieth century that Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret’s journey began.

The estate was founded by husband and wife, Eugène Mongeard and Edmée Mugneret when they got married. This was also when the Mongeard family and Mugneret family combined their holdings, hence the estate’s name. Their son Jean, then took over the family’s estate in 1945, following his father’s premature death some years before. The estate is now being managed by Jean’s son, Vincent.

The domaine is located in Vosne Romanée, Burgundy, and has many holdings in over thirty appellations, including Richebourg and Grands Echézeaux. Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret practices traditional winemaking, and combined with the old vines on excellent holdings, creates classic Burgundy wines of exceptional quality. The wines have plenty of ageing potential, and some say, investment potential as well.

Today’s offer features two wines from Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret. Limited quantities in stock and available for delivery now. Place your orders today by dropping us an email at customerservice@wine-clique.com.

Tasting Notes

Mongeard-Mugneret Echezeaux Grand Cru (2006) | BH 92
"I hadn't had this beauty since 2009 and it has evolved about as anticipated with its deftly oaked, restrained and pretty nose that features plenty of spice elements on the softly secondary red berry fruit and rose petal suffused aromas. There is good richness to the naturally sweet yet entirely serious medium-full flavors that culminate in a still firmly structured, dusty and mouth coating finish. I very much like the balance here and while this could easily be enjoyed now if given 30 minutes in a decanter, for my taste I would advise holding it for another 5 to 7 years first." – Allen Meadows, Burghound

Mongeard-Mugneret Nuits St Georges les Boudots 1er Cru (2011)  | BH 91 - 93
"This is also intensely floral with a gorgeously spicy nose of both red and black cherry and raspberry. There is excellent concentration to the extract-rich broad-shouldered flavors that possess a touch of Nuits muscle along with plenty of Vosne refinement, all wrapped in a strikingly complex, powerful and hugely long finish. This is terrific and well worth your attention." – Allen Meadows, Burghound
