Baron Thenard
Domaine Baron Thenard is the second largest owner of Montrachet in Burgundy. His vines are situated right next to the Montrachet vines of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Besides having a prime location, he is blessed with old vines planted between 1931 and 1972.
In past years, Remoissenet would have the first choice of barrels to take back to their facility in Beaune, but now the Baron Thenard holds back the top cuvees for the estate. The wines sold under the Remoissenet label were not held in the highest esteem, but the cuvees purchased from Thenard often stood out.
His wines are pure and reminiscent of the terroir. The wine-making style is very traditional and exhibits firmness and rusticity. “We try to respect the terroir and the millesime,” - that is the philosophy he believes in.
