Domaine Rene Leclerc
Rene and Francois Leclerc are among the most respected and renowned winemakers throughout the entire Côte-d'Or as well as in Burgundy. The pair exemplifies the quintessential father-son winemaking combination of passion and commitment to pass on the heritage of terroir from generation to generation.
Domaine Leclerc is home to some of the finest vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, and was founded by Rene Leclerc when he was independent of his father's Domaine in 1962. René makes traditional wines by using sustainably farmed grapes, ambient yeasts, and low yields, allowing the grapes to find their balance of ripeness and acidity before hand-harvesting them.
His vineyards also have a reputation for being old, typically aged 50-80 years, and his wines have a fruity character due to short pressing and careful use of new oak. The wines are then bottled without fining or filtering, resulting in pure, intense, and elegant wines.
