Marc Sorrel
Wine Clique is the exclusive distributor of Marc Sorrel
Marc Sorrel is a quaint character. Visiting his cellars is a like a trip back to traditional wine making. Not a single new oak barrels in sight, nor big expensive machines. But his wines are pure, mesmerizing and full of elegance.
He belongs to a small group of individual growers making outstanding wines from Hermitage. There is a total of five wines made by him. A Crozes Hermitage Rouge & Blanc, a Hermitage Rouge & Blanc, and top of the line Hermitage Rouge le Greal and Hermitage Blanc les Rocoules. He places a lot of emphasis in his vineyard and focus on getting purity and balance from the berries with little interference in the winery. The grapes are fermented in whole clusters and aged in used, French oak barrels for between 18 to 24 months. The white Hermitage les Rocoules is a full-bodied, fleshy wine showing great depths of minerality with pineapple bouquet. The red Hermitage Le Greal is a blend from Le Meal and Les Greffieux vineyards - stunningly rich and pure and potentially long-lived wine.
