Rainer Wess
“To put my own produced bottle of wine on the table, which not only bears my handwriting but also shows my name on the label” in the company of my friends and family. Since Rainer Wess was a child, this has been his dream.
Rainer fulfilled his dream in 2003, when he rented a cellar in Unterloibner Kellergasse and purchased grapes from the best vineyards in the area. It soon became apparent that the small cellar was not enough, and in 2009 they moved into an empty cellar of Wilhering Abbey in the Krems area.
Currently, the Winery Rainer Wess cultivates 15 hectares of grapes and is a member of Austrian Traditionsweingüters. At the Rainer Wess winery, Christina & David represent the second generation in the pursuit of bottling Austria as pure, natural and unadulterated as possible.
Respect, support and sensitivity in all our actions and inactivity
Through sustainable management, Rainer Wess has been able to not only maintain their vineyards, but give something back to the environment and to themselves. Relying on the hand harvest, the winery also abstain from herbicides, insecticides, or even reducing copper levels as a form of plant protection.
