Rauzan-Gassies, 2ème Cru Classé

Château Rauzan-Gassies started as part of Pierre de Mesures de Rauzan's huge estate in the 17th century. In 1946, Château Rauzan-Gassies was sold to Quie family, who continue to own today, along with Château Croizet-Bages in Pauillac and Château Bel Orme Tronquoy de Lalande, a Cru Bourgeois estate in the Medoc.

Château Rauzan-Gassies' Left Bank vineyard consists of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, with the best gravel parcels located near the chateau. At their peak, they reach an elevation of 21 meters, and their average age is 35 years with 10,000 vines per hectare in the vineyard. Château Rauzan-Gassies is one of the very few 1855 Classified Growths that rely on up to 50% machine harvesting for most of their vineyard work.
