Cantenac Brown, a new era for the most Scottish estate in Margaux
Witness of the Scottish origins of its founder John-Lewis Brown, the emblem of Cantenac Brown is its remarkable Tudor style chateau. The 60 hectares of vines are surrounding the estate and spread over Margaux and Cantenac.
José Sanfins has been managing the estate 15 years and has played a key role in the modern history of this 3rd Classified Growth. Since 2019, he and Tristan Le Lous, the new owner and an agronomist with a passion for oenology, are very involved in managing the estate with dynamism and enthusiasm.
In 2020, driven by their ambition to produce one of the best wines of Margaux appellation, the two men embarked on a spectacular challenge, a form of quest for the absolute, for which the demand for environmental quality was raised to the highest possible level: building a new and unrivalled zero-carbon cellar made of raw earth.
The 2024 Vintage
The 2024 vintage of Château Cantenac Brown is a true promise for fine wine enthusiasts. It embodies the perfect balance between human expertise and the expression of an exceptional terroir, offering a fruity aromatic palette, vibrant freshness, and remarkable length on the palate. The Merlots display finesse and freshness, while the Cabernet Sauvignons, enriched by late-season sunshine, bring structure and depth. The first-time inclusion of Petit Verdot adds an extra layer of complexity.
Thanks to rigorous grape selection and careful vineyard management in the face of adversity (excess rainfall, mildew), the estate has crafted a rare, intense, and beautifully balanced vintage, further cementing its place among the great names of the Margaux appellation.

Tasting notes:
Meticulous work in the vat room, including gentle extractions and controlled fermentation temperatures, has magnified the richness of fruit while polishing the tannins. The integration of Petit Verdot in the blend marks a further step forward, bringing a subtle structure that enriches the estate's signature.
