Grand-Puy Ducasse, the Renaissance of a Grand Cru Classé
The origins of this Grand Cru Classé in 1855 date back to 1675. In 2004, Crédit Agricole acquired the Château.
With its 60 parcels spread throughout the Pauillac appellation, Grand Puy Ducasse presents a singular diversity of terroirs.
The constant progression of the quality of this wine has been noticed for more than 10 years. In 2021, the Renaissance project was launched, which includes the construction of a new vat room, new cellars and a new tourist experience on the docks of Pauillac, on its original land. This renaissance is symbolized by a new label starting from the 2020 vintage.
2024 : A unique terroir finally revealed thanks to the new technical tool.
The 2024 vintage at Château Grand-Puy Ducasse required precision and adaptability, with a mild and rainy winter followed by a cool and wet spring, which slowed down the vines and increased fungal pressure. Fortunately, the drier summer allowed for a
beautiful development of tannins and seeds, hinting at great potential.
Although September brought dilutive rains and heightened botrytis pressure, the vigilance of the team ensured that the essentials were preserved. The harvest, which began on 23rd September for the Merlot, 1st October for the Petit Verdot, and 2nd October for the Cabernet, revealed a well-developed phenolic maturity, with wines marked by vibrant freshness and elegant tannins.
The 2024 vintage showcases the strength of the terroir and the combined expertise of our winemaking team, alongside our adaptability in the cellar.
