Beychevelle: Where wines and legends flourish

Much like the finest wines, legends have the power to transport us into the realms of dreams, stirring a myriad of emotions within us. At Beychevelle, legends weave a rich tapestry that lies at the very heart of the identity of this 4th Grand Cru Classé of 1855. One cannot help but be captivated by the origin of its name and emblem, conceived in tribute to its 17th-century owner, the first Duke of Epernon and Grand Admiral of France. Then, there's the majestic bicentennial cedar tree that stands sentinel at the property's entrance, a silent guardian over the vineyards. Not to forget the historical presence of Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known as Molière...For centuries, the vast expanse of Beychevelle's lands, spanning 250 hectares, including an impressive 90 hectares of vineyards, has served as an endless wellspring of inspiration for the crafting of their Grand Vin.

The 2024 vintage

Climatic conditions:

The winter of 2023–2024 was mild and very rainy, leading to an early budburst starting on March 20. The wet spring encouraged vine growth but also triggered the onset of mildew, requiring the teams to respond quickly with green work, leaf thinning, and weeding. Summer began with some rainfall, but from August onward, hot and dry weather set in, calling for increased vigilance. In September, sunny days and cool nights followed heavy rains, making it challenging to determine the ideal harvest dates. Thanks to careful monitoring and patience, the quality of the grapes was successfully preserved.

Tasting notes:

The robe is bright, dense, and deep in color, reflecting a very satisfying level of ripeness. On the nose, the wine is aromatic, with notes of blackcurrant and blackberry. The oak is subtle and well-integrated.
On the palate, Château Beychevelle 2024 offers a fine, velvety tannic structure, with a well-balanced aromatic profile featuring red fruit and spice, along with plenty of freshness. The quality of the tannins inspires confidence in the wine’s overall potential.
