Since Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal took over the management of the vineyard, she has succeeded in positioning this second wine at an unprecedented level, by giving it its own identity and an extraordinary new cellar specially dedicated to it, a technical tool of rare performance for a second wine.
The 2024 Vintage: "The Rebel"
Named « The Rebel », this 2024 vintage has a taste for adversity and challenge, two powerful motivators that historically have allowed Angelus to produce truly great wines.
Climatic conditions:
Following a mild, wet winter, spring was unusually rainy too – except for a brief interlude during flowering – all the way until June. The old proverb “August makes the must” once again confirmed what our ancestors always said. Dry and sunny July and August brought back smiles, and our grapes gained taste, substance and character. September, though more uncertain, enabled us to ensure a reasonably abundant harvest and to pick some very nice grapes.
Tasting notes:
Deep purple in colour. The nose, floral at first, becomes more complex with red fruit and black berry notes. Juicy and flavourful on the palate, this wine shows great length, carried by the perfectly ripe tannins of the Merlot.
