Pape Clement, 7 centuries of history and the passion of a pope
Few fine wines can boast seven centuries of history and be born of the passion of a pope.
Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest properties in Bordeaux. The vineyards were first planted in the XIIIth century by Bertrand de Goth, the youngest son of a noble family from Bordeaux. He was elected Pope in 1305, during the reign of Philippe le Bel, and took the name of Clément V. He gave his name to Château Pape Clément.
Since 1985, this Grand Cru Classé of Graves is one of Bernard Magrez' icons. Château Pape Clément is a wine of connoisseurs, it has a unique identity, recognizable among all; the signature of its exceptional and preserved terroir. Combining traditional and state-of-the-art techniques, the wines of Château Pape Clément are made according to the highest standards: use of modern technologies, creation of a research and development center, partnerships with world specialists in viticulture and oenology, everything is done to achieve excellence, to bring ever greater precision and to anticipate the major changes of tomorrow.
